Heating
Most no-heat calls in Denver are not mysterious. A flame sensor, a pressure switch iced into its tube, a limit trip from a filter that has become a blanket, or a heat exchanger that is no longer safe.
It will not light
Igniters, flame sensors, and gas valves. We say which one failed, and we do not replace the other two for company.
It lights, then dies
Pressure switches and intake pipes that freeze on the first night under ten degrees. Common on high-efficiency furnaces vented out a side wall.
It roars, or it smells hot
A cracked heat exchanger gets condemned. We do not sell a board to a furnace that should be turned off.
The blower never stops
Limit switches and filters starved of return air. Brick bungalows with undersized returns do this every January.
The technician measures temperature rise, checks the burn, and looks at the exchanger before talking about parts. If the repair is worth doing, you get the price before the part comes off the truck. If the furnace is unsafe, you hear that first.
Sample diagnostic fee: $89 during shop hours, waived when you approve the repair on that visit. After 7:00 and on Sunday, no-heat is still the priority, at a sample after-hours trip fee of $149.
If you smell gas, leave the house and call Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-2999. If a carbon-monoxide alarm is sounding, call 911. Then call us once the house is cleared.
